Plenary 2

Play, Language and Writing at the Centre of Culturally Responsive Teaching in K-1 Classrooms

Stories and insights about play as a context for supporting young children’s language and writing, drawn from collaborative action research with teachers and their 4-7 year-old students, will be shared in this presentation.  Culturally responsive teaching is an important focus, as teachers draw from their  northern Canadian rural and Indigenous communities’ rich funds of knowledge when co-creating play contexts with students.
