miniRAINBOWs, Rainbow Reading and New Heights are audio-assisted resources (with a magical reading pen) which support children to build fluency in reading.
miniRAINBOWs is for pre-schoolers and children in their first year at school. Available in hard copy and app format, miniRAINBOWs helps children to learn the early concepts about print as they interact with the text and images to hear whole pages or individual words read.
Rainbow Reading and the more recent New Heights series comprise audio-assisted, levelled books with activities. The recommended repeated practice can take place in a group or individually and is research-proven to maintain the gains made during Reading Recovery.

We shape an education system that delivers equitable and excellent educational outcomes
The education system touches every person, whanau and community in New Zealand and is a major contributor to improving our society and economy. The Ministry plays a critical role in shaping the system to deliver equitable and excellent outcomes for all children, young people and students.
We work with others to ensure the children, young people and students of the future are competent, connected, life-long learners.

Scholastic Redbar
Scholastic has been bringing children and books together for over 55 years in New Zealand.
Our mission is built on helping children learn to read and love to read. We believe that independent reading is a critical part of children’s learning and growth. With support from teachers, parents, and schools, children choose from Scholastic the books they want to read, and discover the pleasure and power of reading.
Finding the right book at the right time can light an emotional spark within children that motivates them to read more, understand more, and read joyfully. When that happens, the world opens. Everything becomes possible.
Wendy Pye Publishing Ltd is an educational literacy publisher specialising in literacy learning and English language learning delivered in print and on websites and apps. Millions of copies have sold around the world. We continue to add new titles and quality non-fiction as well as providing the added value of online learning and activities. A key factor is the range of authors and illustrators that are associated with our books – many of them much loved New Zealanders such as Joy Cowley and Margaret Mahy.
